Stripe integration

Stripe, answered in the conversation.

Connect Stripe from your own dashboard with a restricted key you make yourself, and the agent answers what a customer asks about their invoices, their subscription and the state of a payment, inside the conversation they are already having.

What it does

Stripe, once it is connected.

  • Answers an invoice question with that customer's own invoice: what it was for, what it came to, whether it is paid.
  • Says where a subscription stands, when it renews and what it costs, without anyone opening the Stripe dashboard.
  • Explains the state of a payment, including one that failed, and what the customer can do about it.
  • Asks who it is talking to before it says any of that, and how sure it has to be is your rule, not ours.
  • Never moves money on its own. A refund or a cancellation happens only after a person approves that exact one.

Setting it up

How you connect it.

All of it happens in the dashboard. No middleware, no export, nothing to schedule yourself.

  1. Make a restricted key in your own Stripe dashboard. The connect card lists the exact permissions to tick and says what each one is for, so you grant those and nothing else.

  2. Open Skills in the dashboard, choose Billing, and paste the key. It is checked against Stripe before it is saved, so a key that cannot read anything is refused on the spot.

  3. Choose what the agent may answer, and what it has to establish about a customer first.

  4. Ask it a billing question from your own site to see the answer it gives.

FAQ

Questions people ask about Stripe.

Will the agent be able to issue a refund?

Only one a person has approved. Refunds and cancellations always wait for somebody on your team to say yes to that exact one; there is no setting that lets her do it on her own.

Where is my Stripe key stored?

Encrypted at rest in your workspace, and never shown back to anyone, including you: the dashboard displays the last four characters so you can tell which key it is. Make it a restricted key with only the permissions the connect card lists.

Can a stranger ask about somebody else's invoice?

No. The agent works out who it is talking to first, and you decide how sure it has to be before anything about money is said. Signing in, a one-time code, or a piece of information only the customer would know are all rules you can set.

Can I answer billing questions without connecting Stripe at all?

Yes. Most billing questions are policy questions, and those are answered from your own pages as soon as the agent has read them.
